When 16 creative writers from the Aldinga U3A Creative Writing Group are regularly given the opportunity to let loose with up to 800 words of prose or 36 lines of poetry on set topics for ‘homework’, the outcome is invariably a rich tapestry of imaginative text, with humour featuring strongly. Given the age demographic of the writers, many lifetimes of personal experiences are shared. They range from confessions of adolescent misadventures, career opportunities lost and resurrected, revealing family histories, joyful and inspirational experiences, memorable holidays, seeing the world in mythical terms through the eyes of a child, and turning historical events on their head by imagining what might have taken place between people in those times.
