Before showing and / or reading the book Little Raven to your students, complete these creative thinking routines to help engage the students with the book.
Activity 1-The Big Picture
Show the students the first image below and complete the first row of the attached table
Once you have completed the first image and row, show the students image two below, and ask the students to fill in the second row of the table.

Complete the last row of the table for the third image below.

Closing Activity At the end of this activity, inform the students that this picture is from a picture book called Little Raven. Ask the students what they think the story will be about. When students come up with a prediction, ask the students: “What makes you think that?” This will offer students to make justifications on their predictions from the images they have seen.
